When a Stranger Calls is an American horror film of the psycho-thriller subgenre. It is a remake of the 1979 horror film of the same name based on the urban legend "The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs". The movie was directed by Simon West and written by Jake Wade Wall based upon a screenplay originally developed by Steve Feke and Fred Walton. It was produced by Screen Gems and Davis Entertainment and released theatrically in the United States on February 3rd, 2006. In the film, a teenage babysitter receives increasingly threatening calls from a brutal serial killer whom she first assumes is simply a prankster.
