Vivian Cates is the recent widow of Willard Cates (deceased), mother of Luke Cates, and step-mother of Ruby Cates. As Willard's wife, she was the reigning "Alpha" female of Wolf Lake. Since his recent death and the subsequent election, Vivian is the first female clan leader. She has been having an affair with Tyler Creed, but recently proposed to Sheriff Matthew Donner.
