Village of the Damned is an American horror film of the science fiction subgenre. It is based on the 1957 novel The Midwich Cuckoos by John Wyndham. The film was directed and co-written by Wolf Rilla with a screenplay written by Stirling Silliphant and Ronald Kinnoch (writing as George Barclay). It was produced by Metro-Goldyn-Mayer (British studio) and released theatrically on December 7th, 1960. The movie was remade for the American market in 1995 by John Carpenter and was also titled Village of the Damned.
