Vera Farmiga is a film and television actress. She was born in Passaic County, New Jersey on August 6th, 1973. Vera's first work in the horror genre was playing a character named Kate in the 2009 film Orphan. In 2013, Vera was cast in the lead role of everybody's favorite murderous mum Norma Bates in the prequel/remake television series Bates Motel, which is based on the 1959 novel Psycho by Robert Bloch as well as it's 1960 film adaptation (also called Psycho), directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

That same year she played a paranormal investigator named Lorraine Warren in the James Wan thriller The Conjuring. In the film, Vera and her husband's character Ed Warren become involved in the workings of a malevolent presence at the Perron farmhouse.
