The Psychic is an Italian horror film of the giallo sub-genre. It was written and directed by Lucio Fulci and released theatrically in Italy on August 10th, 1977. It was screened for limited theatrical release in the United States in March of 1979 and re-released for limited screening in the US on October 31st, 1997. It's original title in Italian is Sette note in nero. The film was produced by Cinecompany and Rizzoli Film and stars Jennifer O'Neill, Marc Porel, Evelyn Stewart, Jenny Tamburi and Gabriele Ferzetti. Set in England in the late 1950s, a clairvoyant woman named Virginia Ducci discovers the skeletal remains of a young woman sealed inside the wall of her husband's home. As she investigates the circumstances surrounding the fate of the body, she finds that her own life is now in perilous danger as well.

  • The Psychic is alternatively known as Murder to the Tune of the Seven Black Notes.
  • At the time of it's production, director Lucio Fulci was not a highly recognized name in the horror genre, and his career began taking a downward turn until the success of 1979's Zombi 2 turned him into a horror film icon.
  • The opening sequence set in Dover England, and Florence Italy at the exact same time show the time set as 11:45. Continental Europe is one hour ahead of the British Isles time zone in which the time in Florence should read 12:45. [1]
