The Happening is an American feature film of the supernatural thriller genre. It was written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It was produced by Blinding Edge Pictures in association with UTV Motion Pictures, Spyglass Entertainment & Dune Entertainment, and was distributed through the Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. It premiered theatrically in the United States on June 13th, 2008. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as Elliot Moore with Zooey Deschanel as Alma Moore, John Leguizamo as Julian, Ashlyn Sanchez as Jess, and Betty Buckley as Mrs. Jones.
