Sara Rue, born Sara Forbes Schlackman, is an American film and television actress born in New York City, New York on January 26th, 1979. Her first professional film work was the 1988 drama Rocket Gibraltar, where she played a character named Jessica Hanson. The film was directed by Daniel Petrie who also directed the 1972 telemovie Moon of the Wolf. She then had a recurring role on the television comedy Grand playing a character named Edda Pasetti. From 1993 to 1994, Sara appeared in several episodes of the sitcom Phenom playing a girl named Monica. Following stints on shows such as Minor Adjustments, The Simple Life, Zoe and Popular, Sara made her horror genre debut playing a babysitter in the 2002 film The Ring, itself a remake of the 1998 Japanese film Ringu. From 2002 to 2006 Rue played main character Claude Casey on the comedy series Less Than Perfect. In 2008, she appeared in her second horror feature, the TV movie, Nightmare at the End of the Hall. From 2009-2010, Sara played Penny Higgins, a recurring supporting cast member on the ABC television series Eastwick. She appeared in all thirteen episodes of the show.
