Salma Valgarma Hayek-Jimenez is a Mexican actress born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz on September 2nd, 1966. She is best known for her work in films produced or directed by Robert Rodriguez including his El Mariachi trilogy and the Spy Kids film series. Her first horror work for Rodriguez was in the 1996 film From Dusk Till Dawn where she played a vampire striptease dancer named Satánico Pandemónium. Salma later appeared in the 1997 television adaptation of Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, simply title The Hunchback. She played the role of dancing gypsy girl Esmeralda. In 1998, she appeared in another Robert Rodriguez movie, this time playing a very minor role in The Faculty. Salma played Nurse Rosa Harper. In 2009, she played Madame Truska in Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant.
