Rick Springfield is an Australian film and television actor, singer and musician born in Sydney, New South Wales on August 23rd, 1949. His first role in a genre project was playing the lead character in the 1989 television pilot film Nick Knight. The film was a precursor to the popular 1990s TV series Forever Knight, but Sprinfield did not reprise the character in the series. Instead, the role Nick Knight went to Welsh actor Geraint Wyn Davies.

- Nick Knight is not the only Rick Springfield role that was later re-imagined by another actor. In 1978, he played the role of Lieutenant Zac in the pilot episode of Battlestar Galactica. In the 2003 revival series, the character of Zak Adama was played by Tobias Mahler. In 1992, Springfield took the lead role of Christopher Chance in the TV series Human Target, based upon a character created by DC Comics. In 2010, another Human Target program began airing where the role of Christopher Chance was played by former Boston Legal co-star Mark Valley.
- Musically, Rick Springfield is best known for the 1981 pop song "Jesse's Girl".
