Portland is an American city in the U.S. state of Maine. It is the county seat of Cumberland County and the largest city in the state. It is located in the southeastern region of the state and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. The area was first settled in 1633 and became an incorporated city in 1786. Portland is best known as the birth place of legendary horror novelist Stephen King, who was born on September 21st, 1947.
According to Jack Torrance from 1980's The Shining, the ghostly Lloyd was the "...best goddamned bartender from Timbuktu to Portland, Maine. Or Portland, Oregon, for that matter".
