The character first appeared in Swamp Thing, Volume 1 #1 in November, 1972.

Biography[]

Louisiana Blue was a middle-aged criminal in the employee of a man known only as Mister E., who was the head of a subversive criminal cartel called The Conclave. Louisiana Blue and his confederates learned the top secret location of a government scientific research project headed up by the husband and wife team of Doctors Alec and Linda Holland. The Hollands were developing a bio-restorative formula that would promote vegetative growth in otherwise inhospitable environments. Should production of this program have continued, it would have greatly threatened Mister E.'s business interests. At first, Mister E. sent his men to the Hollands' lab with an offer to purchase the formula outright. When they refused, he had Louisiana blue outfit a local mutt with a radio transmitter and sent it off near the lab. As they had hoped, the Hollands took the dog inside where they were able to eavesdrop on their discussions. Louisiana Blue had no directed interaction with the Hollands however. [1]
