Jeffrey Dean Morgan is an American actor born in Seattle, Washington on April 22nd, 1966. His first professional film work was playing a character named Sharkey in the 1991 thriller Uncaged. From 1996 to 1997, he was one of the main characters on the short-lived sci-fi series The Burning Zone playing a character named Doctor Edward Marcase. His first role in a horror feature was that of Sam Ryan, a character featured on the "Provider" episode of the WB TV series Angel. Jeffrey's character was a man driven to avenge the death of a confidante who had been savagely murdered by supernatural monsters. Morgan would revisit this theme several years later when he took on the role of John Winchester, a supporting character featured in the first two seasons of the CW Network television series Supernatural. In the series, Morgan's character became a monster hunter following the death of his wife at the hands of a demon. Morgan only appeared in eleven episodes of the series, but his character remained a vital plot device that would govern many of the programs' many story-arcs. He then went on to play the character Denny Duquette in twenty-four episodes of the medical drama Grey's Anatomy. After Grey's Anatomy, Morgan took on the role of Edward Blake, aka, the Comedian, in the 2009 adaptation of Alan Moore's dystopic superhero concept, Watchmen. In 2010, Jeffrey appeared in another movie based on a DC Comics series, Jonah Hex, playing the character of Jeb Turnbull, son of John Malkovich's Quentin Turnbull. Morgan was uncredited in this role.

Jeffrey was confirmed to have a recurring role on Walking Dead as the antagonistic leader of the Saviors, Negan, making his first appearance in the Season 6 finale, "Last Day on Earth". He was later bumped up to a main role as Negan for the show's seventh season.
