Jaws 2 is an American horror film of the predatory animal/nature subgenres. It is the sequel to the 1975 summer smash hit Jaws and was directed by Jeannot Szwarc. Unlike the first film, the sequel is not based on a novel and is a unique installment in what will become a growing franchise. The film stars several of the surviving cast member from the first movie including Roy Scheider reprising the role of police chief Martin Brody, Lorraine Gary as his wife, Ellen Brody, and Murray Hamilton as Mayor Larry Vaughn. Although the film is generally favored amongst critics and audiences, it does not compare to the iconic status of it's predecessor.
