Jackson Whittemore is the epitome of the wealthy spoiled rich kid. He grew up with his foster parents in an affluent neighborhood in Beacon Hills, California. An entitled jerk, Jackson attended public school at Beacon Hills High School where he was co-captain of the school's Lacrosse team. His main rival at school was Scott McCall, who was also co-captain of the team. When Jackson learned that Scott was a werewolf, he coveted such power for himself. Jackson had a harrowing encounter with werewolf Peter Hale at a video store where he was infected with the curse of lycanthropy. However, the prolonged side-effects had unexpected results. Rather than transforming into a werewolf, Jackson Whittemore turned into a snake-like shape-shifter known as a Kanima.
