Gus Van Sant is an American film director and producer born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 24th, 1952. He is best known for helming the critically acclaimed 1997 drama Good Will Hunting starring Phantoms actor Ben Affleck as well as Matt Daimon and One Hour Photo star Robin Williams. In the horror genre, Gus Van Sant directed the 1998 remake of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho starring Vince Vaughn, Anne Heche, Julianne Moore and Viggo Mortensen.

  • Gus Van Sant makes a cameo appearance in the remake of Psycho as a man talking to another man in a cowboy hat. This is a nod to Alfred Hitchcock's cameo in the original Psycho as a man walking across the street. Van Sant is uncredited in the film in this capacity.
