Gilbert Adler is a film and television producer, director and screenwriter born in New York City, New York on February 14th, 1946. His earliest work was as a producer on the 1980 comedy Home Movies starring Kirk Douglas. In 1987, he worked as a producer on thirteen episodes of the suspense drama The Hitchhiker. His first work in the horror genre was on the 1988-1990 anthology series Freddy's Nightmares, hosted by the fictional antagonist of the A Nightmare on Elm Street film series, Freddy Krueger. Adler was credited as a producer on all 44 episodes of the show. He also directed the episode entitled "Funhouse".

Between 1991 and 1996, Gilbert Adler became a staple of the Tales from the Crypt television and film franchise. He was credited as a producer on 69 episodes, wrote or co-wrote the screenplays for 11 episodes and also directed two episodes; "What's Cookin'" and "Death of Some Salesmen". Adler also produced the 1995 spin-off film Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight and directed the 1996 sequel, Bordello of Blood.

Beginning in 1999, Gilbert Adler co-produced several horror films which were remakes of classic movies. He first started with the remake of The House on Haunted Hill and followed this up with 2001's Thir13en Ghosts and Ghost Ship in 2002.

In 2005, Gilbert Adler was co-producer on the film version of Constantine, which was based on a long-running comic book series called Hellblazer, published by DC Comics and Vertigo Entertainment.

In 2010, Adler produced the horror/comedy movie Dylan Dog: Dead of Night (released in 2011) starring Brandon Routh from Superman Returns fame (which Gilbert also produced) as well as Sam Huntington from the North American version of Being Human.
