Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell is a British feature film of the horror genre. It is based on characters and concepts originally developed by English author Mary Shelley in her 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. The film was directed by Terence Fisher with a screenplay written by John Elder. It was produced by Hammer Film Productions and premiered in France at the Paris Festival of Fantasy Film in April, 1974. It had its first screening in the United Kingdom in London on May 2nd, 1974. Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell stars Peter Cushing reprising the role of Victor Frankenstein - a mad genius who was been incarcerated at a mental asylum for the crimes of his past. Using his wit and guile, Frankenstein manipulates himself into a position of authority at the facility. A young and ambitious man named Simon Helder is admitted to the asylum for crimes eerily similar to the experiments once performed by Frankenstein himself. Working together, Helder and Frankenstein try once again to create new life from the remnants of the dead.
