Deputy

Walking Dead 1x01 008

Deputies are law enforcement officers working for an agency headed by a sheriff. They are sometimes referred to by the title sheriff's deputy, deputy sheriff, sheriff's police, or sheriff's officer, and are so-titled because they are deputized by the sheriff and charged with performing all the duties prescribed to the sheriff by that state's law. In some states a sheriff may not be a sworn peace officer, but merely an elected civilian official lacking police powers who oversees the department and its sworn peace officers. Law enforcement officers working for such departments may be subdivided, sometimes titled general deputy and special deputy.

Detective

True Blood 1x02 004

A detective is an investigator, either a member of a police agency or a private person. The latter may be known as private investigators (P.I.s or "Private I's", hence the play-on-words, "Private Eyes"). Informally, and primarily in fiction, a detective is any licensed or unlicensed person who solves crimes, including historical crimes, or looks into records. In some police departments, a detective position is often appointed, rather than a position achieved by passing a written test. Prospective British police detectives must have completed at least two years as a uniformed officer before applying to join the Criminal Investigation Department. UK Police must also pass the National Investigators' Examination in order to progress on to subsequent stages of the Initial Crime Investigators Development Programme in order to qualify as a Detective.

Doll

Billy the Doll (Dead Silence)

A doll is an object that represents a baby or other human being. While dolls have traditionally been toys for children, they are also collected by adults, for their nostalgic value, beauty, historical importance or financial value. It is not uncommon for a doll maker or someone knowledgeable in the dark arts to find a way to animate a doll for personal gain. Sometimes such dolls are bonded with the spirit of a demon or a deceased individual and may act independently of their maker. Examples of such dolls include the creations of "pupper master" Andre Toulon, vaudeville ventriloquist Mary Shaw and criminal occultist Charles Lee Ray, better known by his nickname, Chucky.
