Evil Ernie is an American comic book series of the horror genre. It was published by Eternity Comics, which was an imprint of Malibu Graphics. This black and white series ran for five issues from December 1991 to April, 1992. This is the first series of what will become a franchise and the only title in the Evil Ernie family published by Eternity. Going forward, the character can be seen in titles published by Chaos! Comics.

The eponymous antagonist, Ernest Fairchild, grew up in an abusive household, with only his pet rat Smiley for company. This, coupled with Ernest's powers of premonition, drove him insane to the point of complete lunacy. Harboring an intense murderous rage, he killed his parents and then went on a killing spree, slaughtering another thirty-five people. Incarcerated at the Clearview Mental Institute, Ernest came under the care of Doctor Leonard Price and an enterprising scientist named Doctor Mary Young. Their combined treatments with a Dream Probe inadvertently established a connection between Ernie and the mysterious goddess known as Lady Death. Young devised a Neurotech device, which she believed could suspend Fairchild's abilities, but the machine ultimately exploded, killing Ernest Fairchild in the process. And that's when he became really dangerous.
