Danny Steinmann was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was born in New York City, New York on January 7th, 1942. His early directorial works were pornographic films such as High Rise in 1973, which he directed under the name Danny Stone. His first work in horror was as an associate producer on the 1977 television movie The Spectre. His first horror work as a director was the movie The Unseen in 1980. He was credited as Peter Foleg in this movie. Steinmann's first mainstream film was the crime drama movie Savage Streets in 1984. He returned to the horror genre in 1985 to direct Friday the 13th: A New Beginning for Paramount Pictures. This film met with harsh criticism owing to many factors, the most notable of which is that fan favorite slasher Jason Voorhees had been replaced by copycat killer Roy Burns. Danny Steinmann passed away in Los Angeles, California on December 18th, 2012 at the age of 70.
