Collinwood in the year 1840. Quentin Collins, deposed as the heir to the Collins fortune, is in jail awaiting trial on a charge of witchcraft. He is unaware that his imprisonment has been engineered by his good friend, Gerard Stiles, who has become the new master of Collinwood. And at the great house, Daphne Harridge has received another in a long series of terrifying notes, which she believes have come from her sister beyond the grave.

- This episode marks the departure of actor David Henesy from the series. Henesy will go on to play only two more roles in his career. He plays a teenager named Jerry in "The Thanksgiving Story" of The Waltons, in which he speaks with the character of John Boy Walton at a recruitment center. He also plays a student in an unknown episode of the daytime soap opera Another World. Following this, Henesy retired from acting altogether.
