Biography[]

Caitlin Murphy was a criminal detective working for the New York City Police Department at the 5th Precinct. She had worked with partner Mark Leung for five years up until his untimely murder in 1997. Caitlin was particularly taken aback by his death, and was committed towards bringing his killers to justice. The captain of the 5th Precinct warned her against being too gung-ho in this vendetta, and told her that Internal Affairs would make life quite miserable for her if she didn't maintain discipline. Caitlin scoffed at the notion, positive that any action taken towards solving the murder of a fellow cop was being done solely so that the Mayor could earn some good will during an election year.

The captain assigned her a new partner, which happened to be her old criminal justice teacher, Ken Douglas. Caitlin was quite happy to be working with her mentor once again, but expressed continued resentment over how political the entire affair had become.

Caitlin and Ken first began working an angle involving a shoot-out between Mark Leung and a member of the Triad in Chinatown. On the night in question, the Triad member had a meeting with one Arthur Meserve - founder of Meserve International. It was her belief that Meserve had gotten involved in the human trafficking business, and was in the market to purchase "stock" from the Triads. Caitlin and Ken went to the Meserve International corporate office, but were unable to gain an audience with the elusive Arthur Meserve.

The two detectives then responded to a violent outbreak taking place at The Dragon Restaurant. They arrived just in time to see a man come crashing out of an upper window and run off across the nearby rooftops. Inwardly, Caitlin noted how much the man resembled Mark Leung. [1]
