Asylum is an American horror film of the psycho-thriller subgenre. It was written and directed by James Seale and produced by Westwind Productions, Inc. It premiered on home video (VHS format) on May 9th, 1997. Video distribution for the film was handled by Monarch Home Video and Norstar Entertainment. The film stars Robert Patrick as Nicholas Tordone, a private investigator who is traumatized over his father's suicide and goes undercover at a mental institution to learn the truth about what really happened. Other stars in the film include Malcolm McDowell, Karl Bury, Tom Poster, Deborah Worthing, Rebecca Rothstein and Adam Gierasch.
