Alphonse Frankenstein is a fictional character featured in the 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by author Mary Shelley. He is presented as a physician from Geneva, Switzerland, and is the father of Victor Frankenstein. Alphonse has been presented in several adaptations of the Frankenstein story.

A version of Alphonse Frankenstein, identified only as Baron Frankenstein, appeared in the 1931 film version of Frankenstein by Universal Pictures. He was played by actor Frederick Kerr. He appeared in Frankenstein Monster #1 by Marvel Comics in January, 1973. He appeared in the 1994 film adaptation of Frankenstein by director Kenneth Branagh. In the film, he was portrayed by actor Ian Holm. Actor Mark Jax played Alphonse Frankenstein in the 2004 television movie version of Frankenstein produced by Hallmark Entertainment. He appeared in the "Resurrection" episode of the Showtime series in 2014. He was played by actor Anthony Brophy, and only made a cameo appearance at the funeral of his wife, Caroline.
